Big Day For Connecticut's Utility Business

Monday is an important day for Connecticut's biggest utility companies, with both Eversoure Energy and UIL Holdings releasing third quarter earnings reports.

Both companies will release their earnings data after U,S, financial markets have closed. It will be especially interesting to see UIL's financial data, since this could be one the last times the company reports as an independent entity.

Connecticut utility regulators are reviewing UIL's proposed merger with Iberdrola, the Spanish energy giant, with a decision expected by the end of the year. If the deal is approved, UIL would become part of Iberdrola USA, which includes utilities in New York State and Maine.

Eversource Energy's stock trades under the ticker symbol ES while the New Haven-based company's shares are under symbol UIL. Both stocks trade on the New York Stock Exchange.
